Chicago Access to Melanoma Resources

An orphan and complex disease like Melanoma requires persistent and diligent research.  Patients need to decide how to participate in the research process.  They may choose to rely solely on their team of medical specialists.  They may choose to supplement their understanding with their own research, enlist an advocate team or hire a medical advocate.  All, some or one of these choices can be appropriate based on the patient's unique needs.  SOS links to Chicago Melanoma Specialists are extensive and local.  The links to Clinical Trials enable access to government, industry and private research on a local as well as national and international level.

Should the patient, family and/or friends desire more information about Melanoma, Skin Cancer Prevention, Early Detection, Legislative and Policy Issues or Advocacy, there are a variety of national resources to supplement your knowledge base.  Links are available on the SOS Melanoma Advocacy page.  Skin of Steel encourages patients and their loved ones to identify a level of involvement whether passive or active that fits their unique needs.  Of course, if your interests are in Chicago or the Midwest, we welcome your support of Skin of Steel's efforts to advance research and awareness.
